H.K.H. Kronprinsessans hälsning till webbinariet Baltic Sea Wetlands

(Det talade ordet gäller)

Dear Rotary members around the Baltic Sea,

For many of us living in the Baltic countries, the sea is so much more than a mass of water.

With its sensitive marine ecosystems, and its unique flora and fauna, the Baltic Sea is a source of life – and livelihoods. It is where we go to find peace – and to make memories.

But, as we all know – our sea is under tremendous pressure from eutrophication, pollution and overfishing. To name just a few of the major threats.

I am pleased that Rotary is summoning its strong network to protect and restore the Baltic Sea. And I want to thank all of you for putting “service above self”.

Ladies and gentlemen: Wetlands have a unique biodiversity, and an amazing ability to purify water. They are vital to the future of the Baltic Sea.

It is my hope that today’s webinar will inspire Rotary clubs all around the Baltic to take local initiatives in order to build and maintain new wetlands.

Dear Rotary Members: Thank you for your commitment – and the best of luck with your continued work!
