Princess Ingeborg
The Swedish Royal Family belongs to the Bernadotte dynasty, who have held the Swedish throne for over 200 years.
Princess Ingeborg, 1878-1958
Princess Ingeborg was born in August 1878 in Copenhagen. She was the daughter of King Fredrik VIII of Denmark and Queen Louise (the daughter of King Karl XV of Sweden).
Ingeborg married Prince Carl of Sweden in 1897. The couple had four children: Margaretha of Denmark, Märtha of Norway, Astrid of Belgium and Carl.
Ingeborg was much loved by both her family and the public for her happy, humorous and informal nature. King Oskar II is said to have called her the family's "little ray of sunshine". She carried out many official duties when Queen Sofia scaled back her public appearances and Crown Princess Viktoria spent long periods abroad for health reasons.
Princess Ingeborg died in Stockholm in March 1958.
