Ceremonies following the royal birth

On Monday 12 March 2018, a Council of State and a service of thanksgiving will take place following the royal birth. The Diplomatic Corps, as well as members of the public, are also invited to leave written messages of congratulations in the Hall of State at the Royal Palace.

The following media opportunities will be given:

Photo pool at the Council of State

Entry via the Western Vault, Royal Palace. Gathering at 10.30 am.

During the Council of State, which will be held at 11.15 am, HM The King will inform the Government of the name and title of the child.

The following media outlets will be allocated a place in the photo pool:

Media session in the Karl XV Hall

Entry via the Western Vault, Royal Palace. Gathering at 10.45 am.

In the Karl XV Hall, at approximately 11.30 am, The Marshal of the Realm, Svante Lindqvist, will announce the name and title of the child.

The other attendees in the Karl XV Hall will be Speaker of the Riksdag Urban Ahlin, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, and Mistress of the Robes Kirstine von Blixen-Finecke.

Limited number of places. Requests for accreditation for the media session in the Karl XV Hall should be sent to press@royalcourt.se no later than Monday 12 March at 8.00 am.

Please state the name of one reporter and/or one photographer, and the name of the media company. Those media outlets that have been allocated a place will receive an email confirmation.

There will be an opportunity for a few questions in connection with the media session. Individual interviews will not be given.

Photo pool at the service of thanksgiving

Entry via the Western Vault, Royal Palace. Gathering at 11.30 am.

In connection with the royal birth, a thanksgiving service, Te Deum, will be held in the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace, at 12.15 pm. The invited guests are the immediate family, representatives of the Riksdag, the Government and official Sweden, as well as the staff of the Royal Court.

During the beginning of the thanksgiving service there will be a limited photo pool. The following media outlets are allocated a place:

  • Stella Pictures, stills (1 place)
  • TT Nyhetsbyrån, stills (1 place)

The name of the photographer should be sent via email to press@royalcourt.se no later than Monday 12 March at 8.00 am.

A limited number of writing journalists will be offered seats in the chapel. To apply for a seat, please send an email to press@royalcourt.se no later than Monday 12 March at 8.00 am. Journalists that have been allocated a seat will receive an email confirmation.

There will be no media position outside the Royal Chapel.

Congratulatory lists at the Royal Palace

On the occasion of the royal birth, congratulatory lists are available to sign at the Royal Palace on Monday 12 March.

The lists, where The Diplomatic Corps as well as members of the public, can leave written messages of congratulations to The Princess Couple, will be available in the Hall of State at The Royal Palace between 1.00-4.00 pm.

Messages of congratulations can also be sent via the Royal Court website, Facebook and Instagram.

Media will have the possibility to be present in The Hall of State between 1.00–1.15 pm.
