Princess Madeleine assumes a new role of the World Childhood Foundation

On Thursday 23 December, the World Childhood Foundation announced that Princess Madeleine will become Vice Honorary Chair of the organisation.

The Queen founded Childhood in 1999, and is the Honorary Chair of the foundation. Princess Madeleine has worked for Childhood for many years, and has now been asked by The Queen to become the organisation's Vice Honorary Chair.

Princess Madeleine will therefore work alongside The Queen on issues relating to the World Childhood Foundation, in line with the vision adopted by the organisation for its long-term development up until 2030.

The World Childhood Foundation

The Queen is the founder and Honorary Chair of the World Childhood Foundation. Childhood works to prevent violence and sexual assaults against children, and its work is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The organisation is religiously and politically independent, and has offices in Sweden, Brazil, Germany and the USA.

Princess Madeleine has been involved in Childhood's work for many years, and has been a member of Childhood's Swedish board and an honorary member of Childhood USA's board since 2016.
