The King holds an audience with the President of the European Court

On Friday 29 October, The King held an audience with Róbert Spanó, President of the European Court of Human Rights (the European Court).

Mr Spanó and a delegation were on an official visit to Sweden.

In Stockholm, the delegation also visited the Minister for Justice and Migration, the Supreme Court and the Living History Forum.

The European Court

The role of the European Court is to examine complaints in order to determine whether there has been a violation of any of the civil or political rights that are protected by the European Convention on Human Rights.
