The Queen presents the Queen Silvia Nursing Award

On Tuesday 21 September, The Queen presented the Queen Silvia Nursing Award to nursing students who had contributed innovative ideas to promote caring for the elderly and people with dementia.

Last year's presentation was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so The Queen presented scholarships to the winners from both 2019 and 2020.

  • Maria Larsson, Sweden (who was unable to attend)

  • Linda Smit, Germany
  • Radoslaw Romanek, Poland

  • Lisabet Lindbäck, Sweden
  • Brooke Tamble, USA (who was unable to attend)

In her speech, The Queen said:

Our opportunity to live longer than ever is a privilege, made possible by science, knowledge, and information. However, ensuring high-quality elderly and dementia care for all in our ageing communities is going to require even more research, as well as new ideas and innovative solutions such as yours.

Queen Silvia Nursing Award

The Queen Silvia Nursing Award was inaugurated to mark The Queen's 70th birthday on 23 December 2013 in order to create the right conditions for lasting positive change within treatment and care with a focus on the elderly.

In addition to the prize money of SEK 50,000, the scholarship also includes a six month individually structured placement period.
