On Tuesday 4 February, The King awarded HM The King's Medal and the Litteris et Artibus Medal during a ceremony in Queen Lovisa Ulrika's Dining Hall at the Royal Palace.

HM The King's Medal, previously called the Court Medal, has been awarded since the first half of the 19th century in recognition of exceptional contributions, and for meritorious work within the Royal Court, the Royal Order of HM The King and the Military Staff of HM The King.

The Litteris et Artibus Medal was instituted in 1853 by Crown Prince Carl (XV). 'Litteris et Artibus' is Latin for 'Science and Art'. The medal is awarded for outstanding artistic contributions, mainly within the fields of music, theatrical performance and literature.
