On Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 January, The King and The Crown Princess Couple attended the 2021 Society and Defence National Conference digitally.

The theme for this year's conference was Sweden's ability to deal with threats and crises in a changing world. The conference included ten programme sections on different subjects.

In view of the ongoing pandemic, this year's conference was not held in Sälen as is traditional. Instead, it was a digital event organised from Stockholm, and was broadcast on SVT2 and via folkochforsvar.se.

The King and The Crown Princess Couple took part in the conference from the Royal Palace and Haga Palace, respectively.

At the beginning of the conference on Monday morning, The King broadcast a greeting to this year's participants and listeners.

In his greeting, The King said:

"I have had the opportunity to attend this conference for a number of years. [...] I believe that this year's conference will be just as good as ever. I look forward to it, and wish you all every success."
