On Friday 24 September, The Crown Princess visited the Life Regiment Hussars (K3) and Soldathemmet in Karlsborg.
During the morning, The Crown Princess was welcomed by the head of the regiment, Ola Barvér, who began by describing operations at the Life Regiment Hussars and Karlsborg Garrison.
At the Swedish Armed Forces' Survival School, The Crown Princess was welcomed by Major Jonas Månsson, who spoke about the school's operations. Major Månsson also presented The Crown Princess with the new training insignia for survival instructors. The Crown Princess has previously completed the survival instructor training at the survival school.
During lunch, The Crown Princess visited Soldathemmet, a soldier's home in Karlsborg that is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The Crown Princess is patron of Soldathemmet. During lunch, the home's chair, Priest Pernilla Tapper, and representative Elisabeth Kindbom described the work of the home and its role for soldiers and veterans.
After lunch, The Crown Princess visited the air unit, where Major Nicklas Fredriksson described the unit's operations and The Crown Princess was given a demonstration of the remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS). The Crown Princess also had the opportunity to help manoeuvre an aircraft under the supervision of a pilot.
The Crown Princess ended her visit at the 32nd Intelligence Battalion's Parachute Ranger Squadron, where technical manager Warrant Officer Per-Allan Andersson described the squadron's operations.
The Crown Princess had the opportunity to speak with parachute rangers and was given a demonstration of equipment and the squadron's various functions.
The Crown Princess then tried driving one of the Parachute Ranger Squadrons' six-wheel drive ATVs on the off-road course.
Operations at K3 include a light infantry battalion and an intelligence battalion. The Swedish Armed Forces' Survival School, Parachute Rangers and an air unit with responsibility for remotely piloted aircraft are also based at K3.
