State visit from the Republic of Korea – day 2

The state visit from the Republic of Korea continued on Saturday 15 June. The programme for the day included visits to Prince Eugen's Waldemarsudde, Svensk Form, Norrsken House and a memorial to Swedish veterans on Djurgården.

The Norrsken Foundation

In the morning, the President and The King visited the Norrsken Foundationexternal link, opens in new window together with Minister for Energy and Digital Development Anders Ygeman.

The Norrsken Foundation is a Swedish non-profit foundation that aims to support businesses and organisations aiming to have a positive impact on society. During the visit, Korean and Swedish companies presented examples of solutions and services within fields such as the environment, education and sustainable enterprise.

Waldemarsudde

During the morning, The Queen and First Lady Kim Jung-sook visited Prince Eugen's Waldemarsudde for a guided tour of the prince's former home and garden on Royal Djurgården in Stockholm.

The Korea Sweden Young Design Award

The programme for The Queen and the First Lady continued with a visit to Svensk Form on Skeppsholmen, where they attended the Korea Sweden Young Design Award prize-giving ceremony. After the ceremony, the winners had the opportunity to demonstrate their work.

Unveiling of a memorial

In the afternoon, The King and Queen, the Presidential couple and Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström attended the unveiling of a memorial on Djurgården to Swedish veterans who served at the Red Cross Hospital in Korea during the Korean War.

Concert at Musikaliska

In the afternoon, President Moon Jae-in and Mrs Kim Jung-sook hosted a concert at Musikaliska in honour of The King and Queen. K-pop group AOA, classical group Haegum Plus and the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team were a few of the performing artists.

Departure ceremony

The state visit concluded in the late afternoon at the Royal Palace, where The King and Queen wished the President, the First Lady and the Korean delegation farewell.
