On Tuesday 20 April, The King, The Queen, The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel and Prince Carl Philip held a digital meeting with all Sweden's County Governors.
The meeting followed on from the meetings held between The King and Queen, The Crown Princess Couple and Sweden's County Governors during 2020.
The County Governor of Västmanland County Minoo Akhtarzand opened the meeting by providing a general overview of the current situation in the counties during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Each County Governor then reported on the situation in their own county. They reported on issues such as the dramatic rise in infection across the country since the last meeting in December 2020, and on the mutated virus variants that are spreading in all counties. Under the circumstances, vaccination efforts in the regions are progressing well.
All of Sweden's county governors took part in the meeting:
Following The King's initiative that all counties should be visited by members of the Royal Family, The King and Queen were able to visit Stockholm County, The Crown Princess visited Södermanland County and The Prince Couple visited Värmland County in autumn 2020.
The remaining seventeen visits have been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.
The Royal Family are keen to show their support for the initiatives being carried out by society to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Royal Family are staying informed about how the pandemic is affecting Sweden via discussions, digital meetings and visits.
These visits are planned based on current recommendations, and every effort is being made not to take up time and resources unnecessarily.
