On Thursday 10 December, The King, The Queen, The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia held a digital meeting with all Sweden's County Governors.
The County Governor of Västmanland County and Dean of the County Governors Minoo Akhtarzand opened the meeting by providing a general overview of the current situation in the counties during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Each County Governor then reported on the situation in their own county.
The meeting followed on from the meetings held between The King and Queen, The Crown Princess Couple and Sweden's County Governors in September and May. Find out more about the meetings in September and May.
In view of the difficulties being experienced by the whole of Sweden in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the Royal Family planned to visit Sweden's 21 counties during the autumn of 2020 and the spring of 2021 at The King's initiative.
In autumn 2020, The King and Queen visited Stockholm County, The Crown Princess visited Västmanland County, The Crown Princess Couple visited Södermanland County and The Prince Couple visited Värmland County.
The remaining seventeen visits have been postponed until later in 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic.
The Royal Family are keen to show their support for the initiatives being carried out by society to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Royal Family are staying informed about how the pandemic is affecting Sweden via discussions, digital meetings and visits.
These visits are planned based on current recommendations, and every effort is being made not to take up time and resources unnecessarily.
