Youth and culture

Queen Silvia and Mrs Basescu devoted the morning to children, youth and culture. AtManillaSchoolon Royal Djurgården in Stockholm, they were met on the steps by a large group of the school´s pupils, and then taken on a guided tour of the premises. The Queen and Mrs Basescu visited two separate classes to observe the teaching methods being used. A poetry reading in sign language by two intermediate-level pupils in one of the stairwells was much appreciated.

At Waldemarsudde, the Queen and Mrs Basescu were shown around the current exhibition, Minnenas vind (Wind of Memories), which consists of works produced by ceramics sculptor Hertha Hillfons. During a visit to Fryshuset on Södermalm in Stockholm, the Queen and Mrs Basescu met national hockey players and skateboarders. Both visitors were also informed about Fryshuset´s activities and projects, for example Lugna Gatan (Peaceful Street).
