H.K.H. Kronprinsessans inledningstal vid Keystone Dialogue 2 – the “Stockholm Dialogue”

Stockholm

(Det talade ordet gäller)

Good morning,

It has been only half a year since we gathered for the first Keystone Dialogue in the Maldives.

I am proud of the achievements of the dialogue in November and the creation of the SeaBOS initiative.

I am encouraged by the response to the joint SeaBOS statement. Many have commented on its unique power and ability to influence change.

And I am excited to welcome two new Keystone Actors, Kuyokyo and CP Foods, to this second dialogue meeting.

You, the people in this room, are leaders of the global seafood industry. By joining this unique initiative, you have also become leaders of change.

You represent a global force. Not only in the operation of your industry, producing food of high quality. But also in your ability to shape the future of humanity. As Keystone Actors, what you say and do matters. It matters for the health of our marine ecosystems and for the resilience of our planet.

As a consumer of seafood, I want to know that what I buy is fished or farmed in a sustainable and just manner. I want to know that the food I serve my children is healthy and produced under acceptable working conditions.

The presence of illegally caught fish in our fish counter is unacceptable. Transparency and traceability is critical.

Now, I am counting on you to join forces to address these issues. I count on you to help remove pressure from the ocean’s resources. I count on you to develop new initiatives and innovations for ocean stewardship. And I count on you to use your collective voice, encouraging governments to take action for a healthy ocean.

In return, you can count on me to do everything I can to support this global effort.

I would like to quote from the joint statement: “Now is the time to step up together as proactive leaders for ocean stewardship.” End of quote.

Yes, now is indeed the time.

It is time to move SeaBOS further, from statement to real action.

It is time to get to work.

Thank you.
